The Love Letter

The Love Letter, depicted in LEGO form by Barbara Werth, was painted around 1666 by Vermeer. The intimate scene is full of symbols of love and lust - the lute was a symbol of carnal love, the slippers in the foreground were similar symbolic of someone on their way to bed, and the ship on stormy seas in the painting behind her is also suggestive. The wandering man in the other painting is perhaps suggesting her distant lover, who has sent her the titular letter being delivered by a servant. The original painting can be scene in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. BTW, definitely follow the link to Barbara's blog for her description.
